Harnessing the power of positive suggestions and hypnosis requires a combination of science, art and finesse.

Using hypnosis combined with positive suggestions, it is possible to change the powerful programming that resides in your subconscious mind.  To make these changes there are three techniques that are used.

1.  Direct Suggestion - This is what most people think of when they think of positive suggestions.  Things like...people like me, I don't like potato chips, I am a non-smoker...but you must be careful in your phrasing of your positive suggestions.  The subconscious mind does not always hear everything.  It might hear "I like potato chips" and miss the "don't", and that would change everything.  Another pitfall to watch for when creating direct suggestion is that they can only apply to very specific situations and must be believable i.e. everybody does not "like you", but perhaps everybody in the audience you are speaking to is interested in what you have to say.  Drawing on our years of experience of seeing people in our clinical hypnosis practice, all of our direct suggestions are carefully worded and phrased for maximum effectiveness.

2.  Indirect Suggestion - This is a less understood, but equally powerful, form of suggestion.  Indirect suggestion is best described as story telling, during which you imagine yourself as a character in the story whose life is as you wish yours was.  This type of suggestion draws upon the power of your imagination and your ability to visualize yourself living the new life you desire. While not as straight forward as direct suggestion, indirect suggestion can create dramatic changes in your life.  A benefit of indirect suggestion is that your subconscious provides the answer to the question "what do I have to change in order to live the life I want?".

3.  Anchors and Triggers - The last component of using positive suggestions to improve your life is reminding your inner mind of the suggestions.  This is accomplished by anchoring the positive suggestion to some event or feeling in your life and then when that event or feeling occurs, the subconscious mind is triggered to remember the positive suggestion.  This simple concept can add dramatically to the effectiveness of the positive suggestions you receive during your hypnosis session.

Every self hypnosis tape or CD produced by the Colorado Center For Change includes a combination of these powerful and proven techniques in order for you to make the changes you want in your life.  Depending upon what changes you are trying to achieve, your self hypnosis tape or CD may include 1,2, or even 3 complete hypnosis sessions - each one using a combination of the powerful techniques described.
